Table pedestal -- is it worth it?

I'm interested in the Dicor slider but I'm having problems getting any information. What would be the dimensions of the smallest top one could use without modifying the slider? I see both 22" x 26" and 22" x 35" in the posts. Can the slider be shortened in both directions?
How thick is the slider?
And, any other available info or pictures would help.

Ron, it is 22" x 27". It is aluminum, so could be cut in either dimension. The narrow dimension would require and angle cut, and a couple holes drilled for the rail caps. In the longer direction, there are large rivets holding those slides to the end slides with angles, and these could be removed, the bar cut on each side, and riveted or bolted back on.

The slider is 2" tall, but it drops from the pedestal mount. the slider adds about 1/4" to the height is all.

The end sliders are forged, and the side ones are extruded. All aluminum.

Those chairs are in the study. The bedroom beside it is where I store all the stuff I bought for the trailer I don't have. I have 3 large workbenches in my workshop if I am building.

When I grew up the kitchen table was fair game for any standard repair, food preparation, board game, homework, dressmaking, etc. I guess my Mom was ok when she came in one night and my brother and a friend had disassembled an Alpha Romeo transmission on the table for repair and eventual reassembly in time for Sunday dinner (chicken). My wife's family about the same, including cleaning the shotguns after a day of wet hunting.

Just received my Springfield pedestal and want to add the Dicor top, BUT I want to add it to the TOP of the pedestal plate instead of the bottom for more legroom under the table. Measured the pedestal top in the TA and there is about 4.5" from the pedestal top to the bed support rails. So if the Dicor top is less than that and with the 3/4" table top on it, that should raise the table top up and keep the adjuster/lock pieces of the Dicor off our legs somewhat. So can I just flip the center two angles and fasten it to the top of the pedestal after trimming the pedestal top? Clear as mud?

You could remove the two angles, which are also the mounts for the rubber rollers, and turn it over if you wish.

Is this because you have the extra high dinette seats? If so I would be more inclined to do as others have, and raise the floor so the seat tops are closer to the standard 18". Not an issue in the new models, ad the moulds see the floor raised already.

The Springfield will extend to around the full height of a regular table top at 30". The Dicor slide is only 2 1/4" high (2" plus about 1/4" for the height of the mounting angles). This is a lot thinner than the aprons on most tables which are around 4".

My seat cushions are 18" high, and with the table board on the new pedestal, that's about a 28 1/2" table top height, so if the table top comes up a little higher, that's ok, but I can't have any less under the table. I may even put a couple blocks under the brackets to put the Dicor up a little higher. I still have the 4" to work with to put the table on the bed stops when it lowers. And we probably won't ever use the extra bed, but a smaller table all the way down works great as a lounging area!

We are still down in Oregon, and the slide is back in Calgary, so won't be able to measure for a week or so, but I do believe that it slides a bit less in the other direction. Maybe someone with one can confirm.

Am camping with mine and would say the travel side to side is about the same as front to back. The rail that provides the side to side travel is 25.5" whereas the front to back is 22". The side to side would travel more if you cut the pedestal tip down to an 8" square versus being 12 x 8 as mine is. The Springfield top stock is 12 x 12" however you have to make it 8" on the front to back to allow the Dicor to fit over it. Otherwise you are mounting in on shims on the top which will add 2" of height.
