Has anyone used this Springfield pedestal with the standard size dinette table? (no U shaped dinette). I am trying to decide between this Springfield Marine solution and the "SNAP 2 Folding Table Base-V-40" solution, we are not getting the U shaped dinette.

I think a lot of us have used the Springfield with a standard table. You may see photos of mine at post #200 on this thread. I did, however, trim the table back about 6 inches. The Springfield pedestal leaves lots of floor space clear. It appears that the Snap 2 base may interfere with the free movement of feet under the table.

I had the Springfield pedestal on a regular shaped dinette first and then switched to the Snap 2. I posted some information here:

http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f4...0824-3.html#24

The exectutive summary: The Sprinfield on a full size dinette table is a bit flexy at the front and back of the table. I think it's a better fit for a u-shaped dinette, but I'm sure other people have different opinions on this matter.

Yes, this is the main negative of the Snap 2 in my opinion. It's more of a theoretical negative though, as I adjusted quickly and it hasn't ended up bothering me in practice.

Springfield table and "counter extension": We have a Springfield table in a U shaped dinette. The table itself seems to work well and is stable enough to use a sewing machine on. We originally had a "counter extension" on the wall between the kitchen area and the dinette. It was a great idea and was supposed to provide some additional work area in the dinette when sewing, which it did. However. the extension kept the table from sliding completely towards the kitchen area because the table hits the extension in both the up and down position. The "supports" in the wall make it difficult to move so we took it out. We would do the table again, but not the extension.

I hear you. East Marine has it for $338 delivered, but that's still about $58 more than I paid for mine a couple years ago. Yikes.

There are very popular. I even see them in a new Airstream that cost almost 100,000. Pat

We are thinking of the springfield pedestal mount also and we are definitely getting the u-shaped dinette. How does the pedestal mount work with the dinette made up into a bed? I assume it lowers/locks at any height? We will use the dinette as a bed for our 5 year old.

Works just fine, drops right into place. It does take a little force to make it go down.

After a years of using my Springfield pedestal, I am a bit disenchanted with it. It tips away from the front side where the compression latches (for lack of a better term) are. I have tightened up these latches to be as firm as possible, yet not so tight that my wife can't operate them.

The pedestal seems quite sturdy, yet slopes a far bit to the rear of the trailer. It also works great as intended for raising and lowering the table.

I will try playing with it some more over the winter, but if I can't improve on it, will be looking for another solution.

Interesting. We've had zero issues, but then again we don't use ours as much as you do Jim.

Maybe the Lagun mount?
