Whaaaatttt! As directed by the Dicor site, I got a price from a local RV dealer for a Dicor Cosmo....... $570 USD plus freight. Too heavy for UPS! Looking at $700 for the pedestal minus table top. Anybody find it cheaper?

Too heavy for UPS? What's it made of, cast iron? On another forum someone said the total for the pedestal and 4 way slider was $380. No mention of excessive shipping fees.

They must sell retail as I spoke with them last week and he said I could just order directly from them, never mentioning selling only wholesale.

Before I bought the Springfield, I called Dicor. I was told they don't sell retail, which is why I was surprised some time later that others were told differently.

I'm calling this am. Since I'll be ordering from the factory, maybe they can leave off some of the gold plating!

Seems like a pretty goofy company. Let us know what you hear from them.

Table pedestal -- is it worth it?

Goofy company perhaps, but a really neat pedestal. 4 way slide and the levers under the table edge mean you can raise or lower without bending down under the table to loosen the clamps like with my Springfield. I like mine (particularly that it rotates) but was fully prepared to spend more at the time - if only they would have taken my money.

Were you able to get any satisfaction from Dicor?

I certainly had no trouble ordering from Dicor on Monday. I will report back once I have it in hand.

No. Three calls, one at lunch, two messages. No callback. Thanks to PatandLinda, I've figured out that the Springfield better suits my needs.

Jim, was the price $380 as others have mentioned? How bad was shipping?

Yes, the price was as per the email I posted from them. Shipping I am not positive of, they are just charging cost. Jeff guessed at about $50, but I think that is low to Canada.

Or...... maybe today.

It came while I was at work.

First impressions. The slider is fantastic. I had considered building my own, but quality parts would have cost me just as much, and this one will work great. One of my thoughts is to have the ends fold in for lounging, but with a total table width full size being around 35", the folded size would be 17.5". This slider is 22" wide, allowing 7.5" slide each way. If I want, I could cut down the aluminum slides easily to be 17" wide, which would still allow 5" travel each way. Something to ponder further once I have the trailer at home.

The pedestal looks and works great. It is round, and not too bit. Built of steel with black plastic jackets on the 3 sections, including a boot on the bottom one to cover the mounting screws. One thing I had expected, but it does not have, is infinite adjustment of height. There are 3 detents that it locks in, and with the slider on (but no table top), the heights are 29 5/8", 22 3/8", and 16 1/4". My only real concern is to match the height of the benches when making it into a bed, as the other two heights are fine. In looking down the column, I can see that if I take it apart, I could possibly drill a new detent hole at the height I desired. The action of the lever, and the pressure of the lift both seem great.

I have not weighed the pieces, but the slider is quite light, and the pedestal is not very heavy either.

Anyway, I will just be storing it for another few months anyway.
