The slider was not too bad, it was UPS that was pricey, wanting $107 for brokerage and taxes. I talked to them and negotiated it down to $60. Still a rip off, though the 5% taxes were inevitable.

Oh, cry me a river. Us folks in BC who also have to pay another 7% feel so sad for you.

You do understand that there are a group of folks that don't understand how anyone could get a nice new shiny piece of equipment, unused, and already be looking at how to do a mod on it.

I'm going to bump this meandering thread that I started. I looked on Overton's website today and saw a "Springfield Marine Adjustable Height Pedestal" for $89.99. I thought these things cost $300. What am I missing?

There is a Springfield Wavemaster 16" pedestal for $389.99 but its description doesn't match what I've read in this thread; this one seems to be for a chair. Could someone who has the pneumatic Springfield pedestal give me the model number? Thanks.

Thanks. When I saw the $89 model I looked under "Similar Items"; the 3-stage air-powered pedestal didn't show up, hence my confusion.

I just picked up a new 21 and the table posts are a pain in the neck. This looks like the way to go. One question--since this replaces 2 posts with one, you end up with a bunch of holes in the linoleum. I'm thinking that a nice footing that covers made of something like 1/2" mahogany might address that. Thoughts?

No doubt the single pedestal is the way to go. Why ruin a smooth floor by putting something over part of it. Sort of a nuisance. Others have filled the holes with, I believe color matching caulk. Sort of something that you see for about 30 seconds after you do it, then you never notice it again.

You are not able to remove the table with the pedestals, so doubtful that it would be a visible patch if you use a colored fill.

Depending on the single post model you get, it'll cover up some of the holes. The Cosmo base is oval, while the Springfield base is round. In my case, the Springfield covered up all but 4 holes, which as Ron mentioned, are easily concealed with tan caulk - or whatever color is suitable for your floor.

I remember you mentioning this before Robert, but not sure where you got that, as I hadn't heard it. I have one and it is definitely round.

My only have one concern with it, and that is that it has 3 set stops in height. With this the only issue is that it matches the bed height when dropped. I forget what this height is and am on my phone so can't check, but if that works, it will be a great pedestal.

I am stoked to use the 4-way slide. That should work great.

We swapped the posts for a Springfield pedestal about 9 months after we picked up our 21. We also arranged for ETI to raise the floor under the table by almost 4 inches. We are very pleased with the changes, both the floor and the pedestal. But, you need to be aware that if you simply install the pedestal, you will have a choice between moving the table about 3" out from the rear wall, or not being able to lower the table enough to make a bed. This is because the way the rear wall is curved. We chose to leave the table against the wall, and to forgo being able to use the dinette as a sleeping area. In our situation, that makes sense. An alternative would be something like the Dicor table mentioned earlier that slides in both direction.

Leon a little confused . I have installed the marine pedestal . I carefully mounted table top , raising and lowering for bed . I also have made a 3 3/4 platform which this sits on . I reinstalled my slide underneath also . I did because of my changes put another ledge above Escape 's for table top to sit on . I made sure I had clearance at back curved wall before I attached . The only thing you cannot do is remove table unless you unscrew it . I really don't need to remove table anymore . Everything works as it should . Pat

I am not really following this either, Leon. Is the table not made to fit the area between the benches to form the platform for the bed?
