An unanticipated benefit of having the table swing sideways is that it allows one to sit and put on one's shoes in the morning. We are very happy.

You can see the results in posting #200 on this thread dated 05/31/16.

I have two Questions about your table:

1 What is the model number. Springfield has two gas actuated table pedestals. The key difference is the minimum height. Which one did you use, or is there a different on?

2. You indicated you can rotate the table. Sterling indicated that they do not rotate. Is it a different pedestal or is there an "undocumented feature"?

Thank you

Hey Little Richie,
I ordered the 94059 Springfield 3-stage air powered table pedestal from Overtons. I thing that it is the same as the 1660230 with the lower minimum height that I see on Amazon.

The clamps can be adjusted with regard to pressure. I simply have mine adjusted loose enough to allow the top to rotate. We never lower it to the bed position. But if we wanted, a simple tightening of the top clamp would allow the top to be lowered and safely clamped in the lowest position.

Hope this helps.
Happy trails,
Allan

Ours lowers to about 12".

With the clamps loosened the table freely rotates. With the clamps tightened you can still rotate it, but with resistance.

How thick is the plywood on the table base?

A related question is what length and type of screws are best for mounting the pedestal to the floor?

I think our table base was about 3/8" thick plywood. Basically the same material as the bench tops.

It's been covered in the installation threads, including the one I did, but Springfield supplies the screws for mounting the base to the floor. I just used those.

Just remember that in some models the fresh water tank is directly under the table. Long screws can be a problem!

True, but the supplied screws, along with the table base thickness, the floor thickness, and the shell thickness would mean no chance of them reaching the tank. The supplied screws are a little under 1" long. If you have a raised dinette with a raised floor, it's not an issue either.

And with a 19, front dinette, no tank under there...[emoji23]

When ETI installed our Springfield pedestal they did not use the screws that came with the pedestal because they were too long due to the fresh water tank below. I'm not sure what length they did use since it was installed during orientation, but if anyone is interested I could remove a screw to see what size it is.

Robert, I have the screws that came with our pedestal around here somewhere, but they were much longer than an inch. Maybe different sources of the pedestal provide different size screws?

Screws that came with mine are closer to 1.5 inches long. I'll let Escape figure out what screws to use when I get there to pick up the trailer.

All of the 2nd generation models have the raised floor in the rear, over the fresh tank so if you have a 21' your raised dinette floor is over the tank, not dead air space. In the 19, the front dinette is not anywhere near a tank.

Hmm, perhaps. Ours were shorter with a crowned head. Maybe they changed the screw size at some point.

ETI installed our Springfield pedestal at orientation 3 weeks ago and used their own screws. They did a great job, too.

If you've told yourself you're willing to pay the price, it's worth it.

Yeah-- I've decided that I don't want a pedestal. Reason is that it appears that with the pedestal you can't remove the table entirely, which I need to do from time to time to give me room to fiddle with wiring, antenna cabling, etc., under the dinette seats.

So-- a belated thanks to all who responded.

Mike, I think if I needed regular access under the table, I might go with the Lagun mount. Easy to just swing it out of the way and nothing mounted to the floor.

from ETI - "the production manager says they use their own shorter screws. They are a bit shorter and little fatter so they grip well.

Sequoia table (legs and) bases installed by Escape are practically flat for working in the area. We throw a rug over them as we do not use the table. Do not know if Escape will install these now but we shipped them up. We have the standard table for them.

By the way, Pat, we saw them in an Oliver!! Thought you should know!
