Yes. I just installed it last week. It will lower enough and could possibly be used for the bed. I plan on keeping the old table without the hardware and just put it in place over the lowered teak table when needed.

Look under the Lagun table mod thread. I posted pics there. http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...tml#post251003

I would not try it because it won't be the exact width to fit in the rails on the benches. But, that's not really a big issue. Just keep the stock table under the bed and use it whenever you need to convert to a bed. The Lagun removes easily.

Agree. There is about a 2 inch gap on each side since the teak table is a bit narrower.

There are a couple different versions & many different sizes of the Teak tables available from Marine Teak, a UK company where I bought mine, along with the Lagun table mount. Fast and inexpensive shipping, however if you do a Google search, there are some US suppliers.

I purchased the sliding version (Nautic Star Slide), and discovered that I had to add a 1/2" spacer between the table & the Lagun mount so the slide supports cleared the Lagun arm. Not a major problem, but if you want it to spin through 360°, necessary. If I was doing it again, I might switch to the folding table rather than the slide.

I made some spacer boards from 1"X8"s to use to make up the bed & store them under the rear dinette seat.

Some photos of the table & Lagun installation on my Escape 21 modifications page.

OK interesting it was the pictured one i was thinking of. I'm just trying to find away to have a smaller table (easier to get into the space) but still convert it easily to a bed i have the springfield pedestal.

When we had our 5.0TA I was toying with the idea of removing our regular size table and replacing it with an 18" round table. We had the Springfield pedestal which would actually go down low enough that the top of the round table would be lower than the supports for the regular table. So when we wanted to use the bed we would simply have lowered the Springfield and laid the original oblong tabletop over it for a bed. In theory it looked like that would work!

Just a heads up for those deciding to finish a teak table from MarineTeak. I used three coats of clear polyurethane (oil based), with light sanding between each coat. The finish dried as expected on the wood, but the rubberized inlay strips (designed, I suspect, to prevent stuff from sliding with the waves) did not dry, even after a month. Very annoying in that paper, napkins, etc sticks to the strips, leaving fuzz. I'm open to suggestions for a cure. No idea if using a linseed oil finish would have the same result.

Probably mot, the rubber is more impervious than the wood. Try some wd-40 on a rag to clean the rubber of the polish and then try some 303 or Armor All on the rubber only.

I used the Semco sealer recommended by Marine Teak. I applied two coats and it worked well. It didn’t adhere to the rubber seams. I bought it via Amazon. It can’t be purchased and shipped from the U.K.

You might be right about that because it's not the traditional use for those inlay stips. They are mimicking a traditional teak deck with polysulfide caulking.

The tradition for interior teak strips is to use holly strips between them like this, a teak and holly sole.

My teak finishing over the years has ranged from traditional yacht varnish to all the different oil finishes and epoxy. My go-to finish for interior use is now water based Varathane. I'd never go back to the other finishes.

Wow, I want my next Escape to look like that. Re: interior wood finishes -- always been partial to Deft lacquer.
