Hi Tommy,

I have a TIG welder so I made my own from s/s tube and s/s stock that I had on hand.

I contemplated just pressing the ends and bending them. Quick and simple but not quite aesthetically pleasing so I went with the base plate approach.

The ETI pole is very simple to do and to obtain the parts. The tube is 1" diameter and the sockets are sold at marine stores. They are commonly used to secure railings on boats. They are available inexpensively as plated ones or more expensively, stainless steel. The tube and fittings are also available in 7/8" and that's the size that I'd use if I was using ready made stuff.

The same marine sources also sell tube ends, including some with eyes. It would be possible to use a base with an eye and a tube end with an eye. That would allow for the pole to be at an angle. Unfortunately that's more cost than just the vertical pole. The vertical pole does prevent the upper cabinet from bouncing on rough roads and if you don't actively need the area for a dish rack etc. that's probably the simplest way to go.
