Tweaking Table Size

Since pickup 9/2014 we have been using only the two flip-up tables in the rear of our u-shape dinette, leaving the table at home as it felt too big. For lounging we have been using two 12" filler boards, with the first one almost always being in place, then adding the other one when we wanted to have a full lounge area.

After visiting with a few other Escapees recently using tables and seeing others here modifying the stock dimensions we thought we would try that too. When it arrives, we'll put this table on a Dicor Cosmo Pedestal with a four-way slide.

For us a 23" depth X 45"(with trapezoid line) seems to work best- Stock u-shape table is 29". We had a spare piece of Baltic Birch leftover from a kitchen remodel and had a cabinet shop do it. I had already done a second filler board and knew it wan't easy. Very glad I spent the $40 having him do it as it required some special knowledge- not rocket science, but I don't have a router for one. He did use our existing table as a guide for the lines and still I needed him to take another 1/4" off. Will have T-moulding added when we visit Escape in May. The two 12" filler cushions we already have work for this size as well when lounging.

We're also going to raise our floor and interestingly we used the finished table top on spacers below and found that accessing the lounge with a raised floor was better with the raised floor set back further as otherwise it would be a weird step. We're going to do the raised floor but it will only be 23" from the back- not 29".

I like the natural birch finish Ross. Looks clean.

Looks good! We were thinking of altering our table size as well. We have the 5TA - has anyone else modified the table size, and if so what did you go with?
