We had our batteries in the front box on the 19'. It is trouble to get to them either way but I think worse in the 21'. On the other hand, you can deal with them in bad weather better.

U Shape Dinette

I am so glad to find someone with the 21' U Shape bench. Would you do it again? I like the roominess of the 2 benches - both the seating and leg room.
Do you have a TV? If so, could you send me a picture as to how you mounted it?
Thank you so much...Charlotte

I had the "U" in my 21' and would do it again, in the 19 with the dinette in front I would not, if I reverse the 19 I would do the "U" in the rear.

Tend to agree, but I also would not reverse the layout of the 19. The queen bed is just too nice to omit.

We really like the u dinette in our 19'. It is a great place to have our two small dogs up out of the way or stretch our legs out. I put the electric heater and extra paper products under the long seat. Things we don't need to get to often!

Charlotte, we too have the 21 U dinette. Like it very much, worth the cost. Less floor space not an issue with us as the trailer is long enough. A little too long in my opinion but wife is happy. On the downside, the rear bench is about 18 inches wide and backing not as thick as the sides, non movable and vertical. We need to make the rear seating width wider!
Not used trailer yet other than quick drive home from Chilliwack so can not comment on usability. Still we like the rear "lounge" concept and will eventually make it more to our liking, then it will be a magnificent lounger. I vote to get the U shape dinette.

For reference, it is probably worth noting that the difference in size between the two in the 2017 model:
19' is 44" X 80"
21' is 48" X 86"
So, the 21' is wider and longer. It seems to me that the decision about the U-Shaped conversion in the 19' is probably dependent on how many people you anticipate needing to seat, how big they are, and whether you are going to use the dinette much.
If you subtract 18" from the 44" for the rear bench, that leaves a side seat in the 19' that is only 26" wide, about the size of a first class airline seat when used as a dinette. I'm not sure how much leg room you'd have with someone sitting in the back middle.

Per ETI these are the measurements of the U-shape dinette in the 19'
The rear cushion for the U-Shaped Dinette in the 19’ would be 80” long x 18” deep. The two side cushions would be 26” long x 24.5” deep.

One of the great debates on our build sheet was whether or not to get the U-dinette. I think it provides more of a finished look to the interior of the trailer. As for the batteries under the seat in our 21, they are in a sealed box vented to the exterior. I don't worry about them a bit except to make sure they are topped off with water. Loren

Did they change the insulation in Escapes? I was told they only use reflectix in bathroom area. All the other areas are the bubble wrap, foam, then vinyl. I was a bit disappointed in this. In this pic I see reflectix down low.

This is an old thread and old picture. Check out the “How It’s Made” video. On newer trailers it is the light pink foam everywhere and then topped with the vinyl headliner with foam backing. Reflectix appears to still be used behind the bathroom and refrigerator due to moisture concerns.
