Dave you are right. I guess the problem is some will not use dimmers and not use blue or white lights to reduce light pollution. Many will love to light up their trailers and not care about their neighbors. Some will not be prudent in their use.
Pat: I agree, but I am hopeful that advdave will be prudent in his use. Not at all diminishing light pollution as a larger issue. Where I live the sky glows along the horizon from all the lighting and you can only see the brightest stars. When I'm out in darker areas on a clear night I feel like I'm on a different planet.

Having a personal opinion is not judging, it is just expressing ones own thoughts, beliefs and practices on topics. You wouldn't believe how many times I was asked why the heck I did many of the things I have to my trailer. And then there is the bigger rest of my life.........
Something I get groaned at about a fair bit.

Jim: I was referring to the (incorrect?) insinuation that this installation was contributing to light pollution. While it might seem an unnecessary mod to some if used properly (certain light spectrums) and with consideration (reasonably dimmed) it could in fact be less obtrusive than standard high mounted exterior lights. Also could provide for a safer environment around the full trailer perimeter if walking around it at night. Just trying to promote an objective discussion.
Here in Ontario, many people oil spray or undercoat their vehicles. It doesn’t just stop the rust, it protects wiring, suspension, and the chipmunks don’t like it. A chipmunk chewed my neighbors wiring harness as manufacturers are now using soy as opposed to petroleum based wire insulation. I guess soy wire insulation tastes better.
WE had a fuel line and portion of a gas tank eaten by squirels a few yrs ago..found out that Jeep used PEANUT OIL-based lines that year..great.. $1100 wasted.
