Lights that go underneath a vehicle, which I think looks rather cool, depending on the color. It'd be kind of nifty to have your tow and trailer color coordinated and zipping around at night. Although at campgrounds you might get some folks complaining about the light.

I don't really see the purpose of them, other than the cool factor. Unless you want extra light to make sure you're getting level, hooked up properly and all that.

About 20 miles north of Durango, Colorado
in a forest service campground with no lights, the Milky Way looked like a cloud and the international space station was the brightest light in the moonless sky.

Agree with Jim - if you have them, at least turn them off by 10 pm! Darker is better IMHO.

We love laying back in the darkness and enjoy the Milky Way, and all the other things the sky has to offer. I have a friend who is into amateur astronomy, it is great when he comes camping with us, identifying planets, constellations, and the like.

And when you're far enough North - the aurora borealis. I once got to see an amazing display in Northern Ontario that I will never forget.

Don't forget fireflies, and the glow of a cougar's eyes reflecting the firelight.

My brother is a physicist with a passion for astronomy. We brought a telescope with us to Glacier N.P. And were able to see the rings of Saturn. That was cool!

I've actually never seen a firefly, but a cougar's eyes would be cool.

My buddy got to see those cougar eyes close up in the morning twilight on his way out to his deer stand on our land about 8 or 9 years ago. I think once was enough for him.

I was told about the cougar's eyes by a friend who had taken photos of the family around the campfire. When he got the snaps back from the processor, he saw the eyes close behind his children as they posed for the picture.

I've seen the northern lights a couple times. They are something. I have a constellation
ap on the IPad. It's pretty neat. Jim, when the fireflies get thick in the river bottoms about the Fourth of July in Iowa, and you're fishing right down on the river at night and look across the river, just above the bank, you can't tell where the fireflies end and the stars begin. It's magical, like seeing a migrating flock of Canada geese fly across the face of the full moon in October.
