Even if it doesn't swivel, by not attaching it to the floor you can just turn it, For travel you will just have to compress it down like for a bed. I thought you did that anyway, I never traveled with the table up, always took it apart, that is why this appealed to me. I not sure those Sequoia would hold that heavy table in transit, that is why I always broke mine down. The old style was a pia to take apart.

Our table has been down about a dozen times is all in over 4+ years. Just when we have someone sleeping on it. We like to have it handy to use if needed.
I like the idea of a single pedestal though, and that one looks nice and beefy. Going to bookmark it.

Jim,
So, how would you "not attach it to the floor"? Lower it when traveling to keep it from moving, then raise it and...it would be a stable table ? (sorry!) Is the base big enough to be stable when this is extended to table height? Or am I missing something here?
Or would you attach the base to a bigger piece of (round?) plywood...to make it more stable?
Really like this idea. Never was a fan of the traditional wobbly RV table. Just trying to understand the whole attaching it/not attaching it idea.

I'm having it shipped to me (free shipping ) then I'll pay to have it shipped to Chilliwack. It didn't look like Wal*Mart would ship to CA.

I'd have to play with it, try it without attaching, attaching to a round board (good idea) or attaching to the floor. The magic table slide mechanism add's a lot of weight, with this you could remove that weight and it should be easier to handle.

Yet there is a Walmart in Chilliwack. I'll have to inquire about direct shipping, may save some $. Another option I'm thinking is to have Escape not attach anything to the table, include the hardware with the trailer and I can play with it at home.

I assumed you always put it down for traveling, the screws in the base are not that long and in all my other units I always put it down, as a safety measure. But I've been wrong before. Perhaps in the 5.0 the table is attached to the wall, in that scenario I'd leave it up but the double pedestal set up just worries me.

I always leave the front dinette table up in my 17B, but I shouldn't.
My buddy Keath leaves it up in his 19. He cornered at speed and the table top flew off the tracks that allow it to be shifted from side to side.
I guess you could put some sort of lock on it, or put it down, or just drive carefully.

I've never taken my table down either--way too much trouble. Escape now provides a bolt (about a quarter-inch in diameter) with a cap (hand turn) on it to screw through the slider base into the table thus stabilizing it for traveling.

Karen,
Are you referring to the front small dinette or the large rear dinette in the 15? Is it the double pedestal similar to the 19' ?

I'm referring to the rear dinette with double pedestals. It was a difficult to take down (for a weakling such as I). I took it down to raise the back of it. The floor on the 15 slopes in the rear so the table slopes and I got tired of my pencils rolling onto the floor. I raised the rear of the table and then inserted toothpicks to keep it from wiggling in the base.

As mentioned, I always leave it up, and only drop it for the very rare occasions it has been needed as a bed. Never had any issues with it. I like the convenience of having it at the ready.

I forgot I had a picture of the bolt Escape now uses to stabilize the table when traveling. It was on the floor when I brought the trailer home. I e-mailed the pic to Tammy because I couldn't figure out what the heck it was and feared the whole trailer would collapse for lack of it. She said it was to keep the trailer from sliding back and forth while traveling and comes lose if not tightened adequately. I responded that, no, I was sure that they would use a bigger bolt than that for that function. My son figured out and Tammy later said that she meant table. At any rate it was a darned good laugh for me.
This bolt goes through the slider base and screws into the table; it keeps enough tension on the table to stabilize it.
