For our 17B the 21in was way too deep, the 17in fits nicely. However the wardrobe in the 17A maybe a different size.

Most of the discussion here pertains to retrofitting an existing wardrobe. Just wanted to make sure you’re aware that you can order factory drawers (or shelves) from ETI that won’t waste any space on the sides or at the back in fitting in an aftermarket framework.

Certainly in the 17B you can order shelves but according to the website not drawers. Its way easier to get stuff at the back from pull put drawers, so as space is at a premium and convenience is paramount, we decided right from the start to do a retrofit. In our retrofit http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...17b-10109.html, there's not much space wasted at all, the shelves are almost full width and go almost to the back. These are way more convenient than very deep shelves.

Having had a 17 with shelves, I totally agree that drawers are a better use, at least for clothes. We used our shelving to store lots of hard goods though, that completely filled the space, eg small tubs of this and that, odd small items, and a rack system on the bottom shelf (floor of wardrobe) that held large bottles of oil, vinegar and wine.

I’m surprised that ETI doesn’t offer drawers any longer. Maybe it’s become an “off the menu” option? Only way to know for sure is to ask them.

Thanks, Scott. From what I've read somewhere in the forum, I think ETI won't put more than 2 shelves in the 17A wardrobe (total $150). The ELFA set will provide 6 or 7 drawers for $135 including frame and drawers. I'm passing on the ELFA top platform as it weighs 5 lbs and I'm sure I can add a much lighter wood top.

edited to add that those prices are the 30% off sale that goes til the end of February.

Chris, since you've done the install, I'm sure you're right about the depth of the 17B, but then I'm confused. The stat sheet lists the 17B wardrobe as 23w x 25l x 40h. The 17A wardrobe lists as 16w x 24d x 52h. I know the 14 inch frame will fit the door opening--I want to confirm the depth before I purchase.
