17model pump problems

Recently there have been posts on failing pumps, needed accumulator/check valves etc - are the pumps the same for all trailers? Any folks with 17s having pump problems?

I've had no problem in more than eight years.
I don't leave my pump on 24/7.
I only turn it on when I need water.

The pump on our 17B lasted 6 years and probably didn't actually need replacing when I did. We were selling and it seemed louder to me than it had in the past and I just wanted to make sure the new owners had no problems. They now have the older one as a backup should it ever be needed

The Forum can often make problems that may well be relatively rare sound like they are very common. Just because something is posted and discussed here isn't really any sort of proof that lots of trailers are having these same problems, even though some folks love to make that leap quite often.

The pump issue seems to be only in a small handful of trailers, perhaps there was a bad batch, but the majority seems to be okay.

If you really, really need water, you can always open the drain on the fresh water tank and let gravity do the work.

I did exactly THAT in the Tetons, when the pump wasn't working, but I had some jugs and wanted to flush the pot and have hot water in the morning. Worked for me... it's not about what doesn't work, it's about being adaptable and CAMP ON!

Our 2010 19 had a noisy pump when we got it but the pump worked ok. For four years I promised to clean the pum screen, remount the pump to horizonal, adjust the pressure or whatever that deal is. I did none of these. After 4 years we sold the trailer, pump
still worked well. If it all my totally broke, don't mess with it, my advice.

Last year on our way home from picking up our trailer from Escape (about 10 days after we got it), the water pump failed. A wee bit frustrating, but we stopped at a RV dealer next to the interstate and got a new one.

It was a bit of a challenge for non-handy me to swap it out, but I did it. So if yours fails, rest assured with only a few tools and some PG-rated curse words, you will be able to change it too.

I do not know any pg rated curse words. I went to
Blue streak university at Iowa Steel and Iron works foundry and got my Masters at Wilson & company meat packing plant. But it still works on a tough work project. Now where's my BFH?

I don't think turning the pump off when not needed will solve what is going on . It just is a habit for us in over 30 years , if not using pump we turn it off . Still looking for answers . Pat

I am sure the instalation of pumps in 17's and 19's are not the same . Also the bad batch of pumps is now going on years starting with 2013 for us . Thought this forum was for help not the same group with their opinions putting you down if you are for years experiencing problems and offering no help but their put downs . Glad everything is nice and rosey for them . Pat

No but I knew I was back in the Midwest Bible Belt yesterday when I saw a Methodist church sign that said "God Reigns and the Son shines. Gimme an Amen. Amen

I've not seen any put-downs. I've seen people express their experience, which is different than yours.
