Re: 19' Escape

Question for a first time poster: looking at the chassis picture, it appears to me there are two frames for the 19 chassis, one in the back ending just in front of the front wheels, and then the longer one for the majority of the trailer body, extending to the coupler. Where the two meet and are joined appears to be about 6" in length - wouldn't this be a point of weakness? Is there more to this connection than I can see? I'm NOT mechanical at all - just looking at a picture.

Thanks.

Re: 19' Escape

Hi Bob
My last reply didnt work, hopeful this is not a repeat.
How do you like your custom cover? Any thoughts on the cover?
Dave at Escape mention to use agood quailty wax once a year.
I'm going to line-x the front and the wheel wells against rock chips.
A 12 volt plug at the table and led lights inside.
One 12 volt battery as a have a gen.

Re: 19' Escape

Hi George

The custom cover is great, easy to put on and remove.
So far its held up to sun and snow fine.
Once put on and the straps are done up it hardly
moves in the wind. As for wax I put on a coat of
carnuba wax at the beginning of the season and
I put another one on just before I put it away for winter.

Re: 19' Escape

Okay fellow Escapees, here are some pictures of our tongue storage box that my younger son, GoCougsKev, had set in motion.

A few comments:
Reace, in case the need arise (which it did), had the frame work high enough to clear the WDH mounts (the WDH handle will not work as the box is in the way. The solution is the use the tongue jack to raise the TV/Escape up a few inches to attache the WDH chain)

if you make a very tight turn the storage box gets close to the tow vehicle

note the battery cable from the two 6-volt inside-the-box batteries going into the Escape body

I wonder if the picture of the frame that Mike M shows is of my Escape?

and finally notice the rain!!!

It is quite likely your trailer in that picture. I think our 19 was just ahead of yours in the shop.

Regarding the cover, so far it gets 2 thumbs up from me.

Re: 19' Escape

What are your plans for off season storage having a cover?
A smal heater or light bulb, or air dry pellets.
I guess you cant open a roof vent with a cover, no air flow.
Another question for Reace?

Re: 19' Escape

Hi George

As we are in a cold semi dry winter climate
I have always just closed everything up.
With the Escape I also have the cover, I
was in it the other day and everything seems fine.

Hi: All... Best winter storage for our 5.0 would be in Florida...but then there's the UV rays to contend with!!! Alf

Re: 19' Escape

Bob, yes the box would come close to the tow vehicle in a very, very tight turn. And yes again, the raised box is to allow for the WDH. And a final yes, it's a super great trailer!

Re: 19' Escape

Bob, Paul and I are going to have an Escape Debutante Ball either in Sault Ste Marie ON or Windsor ON. We will have our trailers delivered somewhere around the weekend of May 8th. Will be fun meeting some fellow Escapees, and actually camping with them!

Re: 19' Escape

Alf I wish! Unfortunately my schedule would not permit a 3 week vacation this Spring so as Gerda indicated, my 19’ will arrive in Ontario the weekend of May 8th along with Café Egg and Paul’s unit. It will be a fun weekend and we will take lots of pictures.

Rick, I understand that Reace is working on a fiberglass tongue box but I doubt it will be available before our trailers ship.

It is great to see the progress pictures of Café Egg and we are getting excited.

Looking forward to camping on the N.S. of Lake Erie this summer.

Re: 19' Escape

As the third member to participate in the Escape Debutante Ball I have the dubious honor of having to wait! My Escape 19 was completed the week of 3/15, as a result the "Brown Egg" will sit on the lot. It however, will soon be joined by "Cafe Egg" waiting for Bob and Irene's 19 to come off the line on April 30. Then it will be on the the Escape Debutante Ball at whatever city becomes our final choice.

I'm looking forward to see what Reace comes up with. And as I think that my Escape (thanks to my son GoCougsKev) was the first 19 footer with the tongue box installation, I'll have to talk with Reace about royalty payments
