2017 Escape 19 dry weight

ETI told me that the 2017 19' weighs 300 lbs. more than the 2016 version - they didn't know why. Does anyone know why this happened? Seems to me with new materials/composites the weights should be dropping.

Part is a heavier fiberglass layup required to make the flat sides as stiff as the curved classics.
There's a bit more frame steel and cabinet width in the wider bottom half.

I think Paul's description is good.

New materials are not much of a factor: Escapes have always been fiberglass; it's not as if they have gone to carbon fibre.

There has been quite a bit of discussion of the weight increase near the end of the thread 2017 Builds - Conversation and Information
