21 Build Sheet - Advice Sought

We're very near to having to finalize our build sheet. And so we're posting it here to seek your input before we must flip the switch. The choices we've made are predicated on a variety of factors, including the ideas and opinions discussed on this forum, the in-person inspections of both a 19 and a 21 that we were able to make (Thanks cpaharley!), and our intention to use the trailer in a variety of situations and climes.

We know that our choices would not be everybody's cup of tea but that's OK. As Donna D would say: YMMV. But what we are most concerned about is a glaring omission in what we are asking ETI to build/add. We think we've ordered just about every major option but the wrap-around dinette. But we may have missed something unawares. In any event, any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. We hope too that a fresh discussion of the 21 may help others who are still building, or will build, their own 21. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Here goes.

Jim,

You were our starting point for everything Escape. Even when we departed from what you had done, we began our thinking based on your designs and your choices. And we greatly appreciate the opportunities your afforded us to look at your Escapes and the time you took to show us both trailers. There's a glass of port in your future at the Inaugural Great Eastern Escape Rally.

Thanks again.

Looks good, almost the same build sheet. It is nice to have all the decisions done and just wait for the completion date.

It looks like you simply ordered everything they have!

Our build sheet was much simpler, but then again, at our age we're fair-weather campers who prefer full hook-ups and temperatures between sixty-five and eighty-five degrees (F).

Consider having your trailer delivered to N. Indiana, a reasonable drive for you and a good means to save some delivery cost. The carrier is likely going to go there for a pick up to take back to BC.

Pete,

Thanks for this. We'll add it. I've been looking at portable solar panels that we might use when shaded by trees so as to give us enough juice to top off the batteries.

Nearly so, Ray. Complexity tempts the fates, of course, but it also widens options. As Bogie said: You pays your money and takes your choice.

Paul and Janet,

Thanks for the thought. Going to Goshen is a backup plan if things go South with our primary plans. But the primary plan is to leave in mid-July for a meandering trip to Chilliwack pick up the trailer near the end of the month.

Then a meandering trip down the coast, with occasional forays inland, until we get to Big Sur. Then a figurative left turn to Yosemite and then we'll see. We'd like to go to the Grand Canyon, maybe through Death Valley and then to Zion, Bryce, Arches, etc., in Utah. But we also want to go to Monument Valley (necessitating a bit of backtracking) before heading NE into CO and then a beeline to the Inaugural Great Eastern Escape Rally the last weekend of September. It's a rough, back-of-the-envelope plan that we'll need to refine but we'd rather try for it or, perhaps, some more practical alternative. The weather people are predicting a major El Nino event this year. That may affect our plans too. We'll plan what we can and then be flexible and do what we can.

But, again, the Goshen idea is a worthy one that all East Coasters should keep in mind. Thanks for the thought.

Glenn

Didn't see a battery disconnect switch?

Other than that......Is there anything left to add?

I've been browsing the different photos of everyone's rig...getting ideas. Those umbra hooks are clever!

I also like the cabinet above the nightstand. So you can ask to add stuff...like a cabinet with door above the wardrobe cabinet of a 17B?

I believe the battery disconnect is standard with solar.

Dump the tv arm and put in a drop down mount in the corner.

The battery disconnect was extra with my 19' with solar. Maybe standard with dual 6volt batteries?

I'll check on the battery switch. Thanks. Those Umbra hooks are clever indeed. The cabinet above the nightstand will be the same as Sally P's 21. If you can find her build pics, you'll see what we're getting. If there's room, I don't know why you couldn't add it to the 17B.

What's a "drop mount" and why would that be a better choice?
