I went out and checked mine again this AM, (Ole Men do tend to make mistakes ), yep on mine it's 5.5 inches and couldn't be placed any lower. I didn't realize there would be such a difference between the 17'er and 21'er. No wonder Brady Hall is so insistent about every detail.

I looked again at the installation manual for the Anderson hitch and based on the pictures in the manual, the pictures on the forum and the two different measurements I think the distance to the lowest part of the down rigger depends on what size of brackets are used to mount the hitch to the trailer. We'll have to wait to see what works for our set up. An alternative is simply take off one of the Anderson hitch brackets when we need to use the dolly.
