21 with Anderson hitch and Power Mover
Our new 21 is ready and waiting! We are having an Anderson hitch installed and need to use a power dolly to get the new baby into its parking spot. The dolly of choice is a Power Mover. Because of the Anderson hitch we will need to have a custom bracket for the power mover. We sent them a couple of pictures that Paul posted of the trailer tongue with the Anderson hitch. They have requested an additional picture of the tongue with an Anderson hitch with the tank cover off and info on how far below the frame the Anderson hitch hangs.
Do any of you have this info? Thanks for your help.

I'd take a picture but the trailer is covered with snow, maybe someone on the west coast can help.

Hello KandS,
I have an Escape 21 with an Anderson hitch and I use a Power Mover AC6 to park it head first in my driveway. It works very nicely. This topic has been covered pretty well in another thread. If you enter "Anyone use a trailer dolly?" in the search field above, one of the returns you see will be a link to that thread, originated by OneOleMan. There are several pictures of the AC6 and the attachment method I use in that thread.
Have a look. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Best,
Fletch

Thanks so much for the quick reply! Did the Power Mover folks make the attachment for you?

Yes. I had the attachment point welded to the trailer frame locally.

One more thing, does anyone know exactly how far below the frame the Anderson hitch hangs?
Thanks

On my 21, the lowest part of the Anderson down rigger is 7.5 inches from the bottom edge of the trailer frame.

I went out and checked mine again this AM, (Ole Men do tend to make mistakes ), yep on mine it's 5.5 inches and couldn't be placed any lower. I didn't realize there would be such a difference between the 17'er and 21'er. No wonder Brady Hall is so insistent about every detail.

I looked again at the installation manual for the Anderson hitch and based on the pictures in the manual, the pictures on the forum and the two different measurements I think the distance to the lowest part of the down rigger depends on what size of brackets are used to mount the hitch to the trailer. We'll have to wait to see what works for our set up. An alternative is simply take off one of the Anderson hitch brackets when we need to use the dolly.

I am getting a new Toyota 4Runner to use to pull my 2019 21' Escape. I dislike the Fastway hitch on the trailer, I can't even lift the unit that goes on the tug, and it creates too much tongue weight for the vehicle. I would like to switch to an Anderson or some other WDH that I can manage.
1- which Anderson hitch would I need for the configuration of the 4runner and the 21' Escape?
2- are there other recommended WDHs that a single older woman can manage alone?
