6.7 CU Fridge needs 12V?

Yesterday i fired up the 6.7 CU fridge for the first time on 120V. It told me, on the panel, it used 120V but When i switched of the 12 Main switch the fridge just stopped.

Switched on the 12V main switch again just fired up the fridge again on 120V.

Is this normal behavior?

Have fun!

Hi: Seef... I'm no fridge Tech, but I do know that the fridge needs 12V. to fire up the propane. Your control panel seems to be different than ours so it's hard to tell.
I'd send this question to Reace. Alf

The RM(L)855x series requires 12V power to run using any heat source. (Not sure what model you have.)

Refrigerators with electronic controls need 12V power to run them, regardless of what power source is being used for the heat which drives the cooling function. Fortunately, since it is just for control it isn't much power.

Hi guys,

thanks for your replies. When your right, your right. The fridge does need 12V to operate on any source. We only use 110V bur if we switch off the 12V main switch the fridge "dies".

Ahh, well, lesson learned. Disconnected the 12V main from the fridge just to make sure it will not run on 12V in any case but left the 12V "utility" power wire.

We're happy....

Have fun!

You may have seen this on the Tinkerer Thread?
----------------
AES - tricking it to only use propane -

I disconnected the red 12vdc (wire nut big and small wire together that was on the heater + lug) from the heater element AND unplugged the AC power cord.

That forces AES to go directly to propane. I've read the AES can get flakey so this insures I am running 100% propane for testing.

Good way to troubleshoot AES too, by forcing in a mode.
