Another Generator Question

I'm looking for suggestions on how to carry a 3K (75lbs or so) generator when your tow vehicle is not a truck. In the back of the Rav4? Attached to the front or back of the Escape 17?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Another Generator Question

I'm no expert, but I'm betting that's too much weight to hang off the back end. Will it fit through the door and go inside the trailer?

Re: Another Generator Question

I hesitated to enter this thread, not having a great solution.

I have the Honda 1,000, smaller and lighter than your generator. I transport it inside the trailer, along with my Weber BBQ and a 10 lb propane tank. Chairs go inside too, on the bed. They are fairly heavy resin folding chairs.

At camp I move the generator outside and "secure" it with a cable to the bumper of the trailer when I'm around camp and overnight. When I leave camp I put it inside the trailer ( out of sight if not really secure ). The rest, BBQ etc. stay outside, out of view if possible.

But, I've never camped in downtown Detroit or anywhere near . . .

Re: Another Generator Question

And, today I discover that the 5 liter gas can that was attached to the back bumper is missing, the strap that held it on is laying on the ground.

I have a suspect. The same guy that left jumper cables on my front lawn after his '79 Caddy wouldn't start, and the same guy that comes around weekly to pick up the bottles and cans that I leave out for him.

It's only $15 worth of gas and container, but it bugs me.

The carport is full of stuff, canoe, pontoon boat, equalizer hitch, table saw, two BBQs and propane bottles and none of that is missing. But, then, I guess '79 Caddys don't run on propane.
