Awning remote not working

This past weekend whilst at Ft Stevens OR we had our power awning out. When it came time to leave we found the remote no longer worked to retract the awning. After a few minutes of looking into how to manually retract the awning I thought of "testing" the auto-retract when the winds blows. Applying a wind-like shake the awning retracted and we headed home.

After getting a new battery today and doing what should have been a simple battery replacement I could not get the remote to work, nor would the led on the remote light up. I tried a second new battery with the same results.

Does anyone have any experience with a similar problem? We're out of warranty so I'm planning to call Dometic tomorrow if I have to but i'm hoping there is a simple fix that someone here on the Forum knows about.

Thanks! Doug

I’d like a fix too but think mine’s a goner. Dropped it in the dog water bowl. Expensive $129 to replace.

Ouch! Mine just stopped working. I'm hoping that with doing a simple battery switch there is one more step I'm missing, or something else simple, that will get things working again. What does worry me some is that the led does not light on the remote after several new batteries.

Do you not have to reset the remote so it knows to talk to your awning. Check the manual for the reset procedure.

Not being anywhere near the trailer, I can't check mine. But I do know that sometimes it's the simple things that can screw us up so I ask this question. Is the battery in correctly?

I never had my remote not work, but I have had to sync the wind sensor with it a couple times, as well as once on my brother's trailer. This procedure is in the manual. It is good to test the wind sensors functionality once in a while.

I know there is a procedure in the manual for resetting the motor with the remote. Maybe this would be something Doug could try.

Another nice feature of the remote and awning very few take advantage of is that you can set the stop button to automatically open to a preset extension between fully open and fully closed. I have mine set for about 4-5', where I usually put it overnight or during a rainstorm. This too is in the manual.

edit: rereading to check spelling etc, it sure seems like I was making a point here. Read the manual. LOL
