Bad lock, again

I had one of those defective door locks on my 21 and went through the procedure to replace the deadbolt lock cylinder. Recently the replacement cylinder has started to freewheel in the lock and not engage the deadbolt. This has happened intermittently, so far. I have to take my trailer in for service later this week, so while I have the trailer hitched up I'm thinking about swinging by a locksmith and have him beat on it, as my DIY locksmithing might not be up to snuff. What do you think?

If I recall was not the defective line of door locks identified by a serial or part number? Perhaps I am thinking of an earlier issue?

Unrelated issue came up, but Dennis indicated same supplier, different lock model (new and improved!).

Mike, I had a lock that would spin even though it was not a recall number. I called and they finally sent me a change key and two new cylinders. I installed them. Locks and latch worked fine for a few days then started to spin again. When I went to disassemble the lock and latch assembly, I noticed the internal machine screws were loose, made so , I think, by the repeated paddle slam action of closing the doors. I tightened the screws. This allowed proper positioning of the cylinder and the locks and latch have worked properly since. I looked into putting some locktite blue on the machine screws but it is not for use around plastic. This was my experience so you might want to check the internals before paying a locksmith.

I've been thinking about replacing the door lock with this one:

Travel Trailer Entry Entrance Door Lock Handle White - $22.70

Same size as the original so there's no modification required. Plus, it's white to match the trailer, and it's made of zinc instead of plastic.

I like this: "Built-in deadbolt provides that extra sense of security".

Note that it doesn't say "provides extra security".

In all advertisements, I look/listen for the words: "may" & "can." English is a very precise language.

I had a locksmith look at my trailer lock. He removed the inner plate and tightened the screw Iowa Dave referred to. The locksmith said these locks were very common, and that others who have had this problem have put Locktite on those screws. I asked him about using it on a screw that goes into plastic, but he didn't really comment. He charged me $5 for labor.
