Re: Battery problem
To make a long story longer, I tried to replace the fuses and they blew upon touching the contacts. Unplugged the AC and tried again. Same result. Reace says the converter is shot. Has a two year warranty, so I'm OK and I'll get it replaced Monday. Only Reace would work on Labor Day.

Your welcome, I not only bookmarked these, but also printed them out, just so I'd have it as a handy reference in the bush!

Re: Battery problem
We had blown several fuses for no explicable reason and I was beginning to worry that our power converter might be bad.
Most of the time we have the Escape hooked up to shore power on the outside of our house. After the last fuse blew, my husband decided to check the extension cord we had been using and found that it was shorting out to ground. It would actually trip the GFCI on the outlet even when it wasn't plugged into the trailer.
So just a reminder that if you have to use an extension cord, make sure it is heavy duty and high quality.

Re: Battery problem
Just to update: Reace replaced the converter and everything worked as it should. However, the battery seemed to run down pretty quickly on our Skagit trip. I didn't use much in the way of lights, but running the heater all night sucked power ( and kept waking me up as the fan started up and shut down). Took the battery to my mechanic for a diagnostic and it is just fine. It's got the juice. I just have to turn the heater off at night, throw another blanket on the bed and snuggle with a good woman.
