Black Streaks?

Well it is Spring time.
Last fall I washed and waxed my 19' er.
Its is stored outside in vancouver.
Today I went to wash it!
I was surpized to see how dirty they can get over the winter.
It washed up pretty easy and most black streaks came off fairly good?
There are still several streaks that I have to give more attention too.
Two questions
1) What is the general consensus in Black Streak removal.
(I'm thinking of magic eraser for the touch spots), then rewax.
2) Preventing Black Spot?

Hi: Geo... Fantastic spray straight up and wipe with a rag then wash as usual that's what I do. Waxing with Meguiars 50 Marine RV One Step takes care of the stubborn ones too!!! Seems there's more in the air we breath than oxygen. Alf

When I worked in the high arctic, we used ordinary house hold heasting oil to fuel the twin otter. ( Diesel oil)

This left a lot of black carbon on the belly of the aircraft, from the exhaust.

The engineers used "Go-Jo" to clean the aircraft.

Go-Jo is what mechanics use to clean their hands after working on greasy things.

Perhaps an upside is, The trailer will smell like bananas.

Is your trailer parked under a poplar tree, they will leave black streaks on the trailer.

I park it on a paved driveway, trees in the area but at lest 150' away.
I think the streaks are from dirt in the air.

Try Turtle Wax "Bug 'n Tar"
I've found it effective and you don't have to worry about it containing abrasives, since it's designed for the job.

In the Great Pacific Northwet*, I think black streaks come from mildew.

*If that is Vancouver, B.C. not Vancouver, WA, it is the Great Pacific Southwet!

In Vancouver, B.C. we've given up. We settle for Pacific Northwest.
However, if you look at the North American continent, it really should be the Pacific Midwest...

We can all agree, it's wet.

There's lots of things that will remove the black streaks from fiberglass. Interestingly enough one is even called "Black Streak Remover." http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...k-remover/3354. Nearly ALL products will also remove the wax. For the future, really, really wax the areas where the black streaks have a tendency to collect. You should be able to use a wash/wax product to remove the streaks. Use the "other" stuff (and then rewax) in the tougher areas.

Black streaks, red and green moss is the bane of trailers that remain uncovered in the Pacific NorthWET. Prior to building a carport for my trailer, it took me an entire day to clean the exterior of my Scamp in the spring. Now it just gets dusty. Cool!
