brake controller upgrade

I think at this point I would like to upgrade my controller from a basic economy unit to one that will give me more info and will be able to be "fine tuned" a bit more than the present generic unit. Suggestions? (I was sure a while back there was much discussion on controllers, but I can't seem to find the threads) Anyway, who's happy and why? Is e-trailer a good source? I'd like to get this changed before we go to Maine end of next week, but it's not critical. Thanks, Ian

Re: brake controller upgrade

I am very happy with our Prodigy controller. Its my first and only controller, so my response isn't statistically significant...but I bought it based on advice on the Casita Club forums:

Do a search for Prodigy.

Re: brake controller upgrade

The only upgrade to my Prodigy that I can think of is to have the Old Bag in the trailer with a boat anchor that she can toss out when I yell "stop it".
I have faith that the Prodigy is doing what it is supposed to do, and no faith in my ability to set it correctly, no matter how many times I read the instructions.

Re: brake controller upgrade

Hi: Eddys...Our Husky brake controller is quite simple. I simply don't know what it does. When the numbers start to flash and increase and my wife steps hard on the floor I step harder on the brakes. This cycle goes on until the rig stops. Very ingenious!!! Alf

Re: brake controller upgrade

I've got to kind of echo what Glenn said. We wonder whether our Prodigy is set correctly, but we always seem to stop just fine when we need to.

Re: brake controller upgrade

Our thoughts too, re the Prodigy. Reace just cured some low-speed chatter for us by showing us how to adjust the boost differently from city and highway conditions. It's our first and only, but suggest the Prodigy is great, and look to Reace for advice on how to set it.

Re: brake controller upgrade

We use a Prodigy controller & are happy with it too. Tweaking the settings is an ongoing process depending on type of driving (city vs highway) and how heavy of a load we're carrying (e.g. tanks full or empty).

Re: brake controller upgrade

Thanks so much for your comments - just ordered a Prodigy (they have a new upgrade now), should be here on Monday! I think this will give greater peace of mind. Thanks again
