Does anyone know a source for Escape's 12v USB outlet? I can not find anything similar on line.

Jim, are you referring to this kind of outlet, the ones with the blue leds? They were about $8, online, free shipping from China.

Online or truck stops. Online places like RoadTrucker Logbooks, Travel Gifts, Truck Locks, Accessories. Maybe boating supply places too.

Not the wall because I'd have had to put bolts through the wall to the exterior, which I didn't want to do or I'd had to cut the vinyl and epoxy a block of wood onto the f.g. Been there, done that with the overhead light.
Didn't want to attach it to the table. It has wires attached to it and I wanted the table to still be able to move independently.
So I made an "L" shaped bracket that attaches to the non moving part of the table. It's worked out well, plenty strong enough.

Got all excited - saw they have 12V DVD players. "Ohhhh, have to have it!" Then I realized I have a laptop computer with DVD. Duhhhhh. Guess that's what would have been called an emotional purchase. And a very dumb one!
Thanks for the link -- some good stuff!!!

No, I'm referring to the new 12v with 2 USB connectors Escape is now installing in the trailer.

Inverter questions
It's coming down to the wire -- 4 more days until Build Sheet due!!! It's almost complete but, of course, some last minute decisions.
I've got solar.
Planning on boondocking 95% of the time.
Was not going to get the inverter.
But now I'm wondering: maybe I SHOULD get the 1500W Inverter with one outlet.
Pretty clueless about how that works. I recall reading that a 1500W hair dryer will not work with the inverter. What does the "1500W" actually cover? In other words, how many watts can I realistically plug in? And for how long?
Back to that "cannot-live-without flat iron." The one I have is 220W. Is that OK?
If I had an electric clock, could it be plugged in 24/7? Won't be doing that but just trying to figure this all out.
Thank you!!!
p.s. A friend took me out yesterday to teach me how to tow. I towed her boat. Easy! Then it was time for backing-up "class." Wow: Very confusing. But started to get the hang of it after a while. (I used the "hands on the bottom of the wheel" tip I had read) But can see how easy it would be to jacknife. Next week we're going to go out and tow her horse trailer. Step by step.

That's a tough one. Your instincts were to not get one and as many have said it is quite possible to do without. You can have your clock plugged in, but you would have to have the inverter running all the time, which it is not probably intended to do.
On the other hand, with about a 30% discount due to the current exchange rate, it would cost you about $350 and give you the opportunity to run some appliances like a small microwave or a blender or ??
Good going on the practice towing- you're fortunate to have a good friend to help!

I'm one who'd say go for the inverter 'cause ya never know when it'll come in handy. So far mine's be used only to grinde coffee beans but there just may be that time …...
Backing a 17B is actually pretty easy, just take your time and make small adjustments.

Pat- you just reminded me I need to get a coffee grinder. Am looking around now and see that the burr grinder seems to be preferred over a blade one. What are you using?

It's unfortunate people get hung up on the 1500 or 3000 watt number. The reality is that it's meaningless. It's how you use it that's important. I have a 3000 watt inverter. I could kill my batteries by indiscriminate use. I like having it because it leaves the door open for short term random use of lots of different AC devices. In reality most of the time it's used to heat a bowl of soup etc. Big draw, yes, but only for a few minutes. No big deal.
You don't have to pay a lot of money for one, or pay big bucks to have one installed. You can add one later without any difficulty. They connect with heavy cables to the battery. That gives you the outlets on the inverter. It can be hooked in to the trailer outlets also, but that can be a decision for another day.
Glad the boat trailer practice went OK. A boat trailer is good to start with because the long distance between the hitch and wheels makes it more docile.

On using the inverter, remember that "heat" uses a lot of power. So, if you can use a hair dryer on low heat and blower, you will be okay. We were in the desert boondocking in 100 degree heat. We stayed hydrated, used wet cloths and a fan running off our inverter to get through the day.
