Cabinet Finish

Has anyone found a finish for mods that closely matches the factory cabinets?

Catalyzed varnish is what ETI's cabinet maker told me they use.

I just used a clear semi-gloss water-based polyurethane, and it matches up just fine.

That's typical of cabinet makers. Sometimes they use Lacquer. Neither finish is for the novice, because it requires an HVLP setup, a spray booth and a mask.

For home use a waterborne poly is a good choice, and I've also had fine results with Deft Clear Wood Finish, which is basically a brushable retarded lacquer.

The main thing is to get the sheen right, since there is no color. The varnish used by the cabinet finishers for ETI is more than likely a Satin.

(yes, many years ago I worked in a paint store...lol)
