Caulking mold fix?
Short of removing and replacing caulking, does anyone have method for cleaning up black spots on caulking?
I tried "Scrubbing Bubbles", which contains bleach, but didn't accomplish anything.

Re: Caulking mold fix?
Removal is your only way of getting rid of it. Clean it real well, and replace with a high quality Kitchen & Bath Silicone. Real silicone, not the water clean-up stuff.
Anything else is just a waste of time.
Where is this mold?

Some above the rear window. Some above the front window rock guard and a bit above the vent for the fridge.

Re: Caulking mold fix?
I assumed it was on the inside, like in the bath. Not really sure what the caulking is on the outside. It is usually that soft pliable kind.

Re: Caulking mold fix?
Oh PLEASE don't use silicone. I think it was Alf who mentioned on one of the forums, taking a paper towel and soaking it in bleach and laying on the moldy spots... leave it there and allow it to work its magic. It's not a quick solution, but a solution that works.

Re: Caulking mold fix?
I don't get to see any of those ads, because of using AdBlock. I just see the the Escape and Amazon banner ads.

Re: Caulking mold fix?
I was so impressed by the ads on the left side of the page, that I decided to give Scrubbing Bubbles another shot ( thanks to Donna also on how-to ).
I sprayed some of the caulking yesterday afternoon and left it until this afternoon. I didn't apply paper towel, but I may have to do that on the underside of the rear window to keep the solution in contact with the caulk.
Anyway, it worked. Can't wait to do the rest. No effort involved.
