Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
I'm wondering if the chrome upgrade for the wheels is worth the additional expense? On a Escape 19 it's another $$425 for all 5 wheels! Has anyone made this upgrade and if so are they pleased with it? Thanks

Re: Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
I ordered mine with the chrome wheels and so far I am very pleased with them. In the past I have always had a corrosion problem with the painted wheels.

Chrome wheels are great, we only ordered four, I like the spare tire cover. Ours are 2010 and no sign of any tarnish.

Are you getting rid of your 2012 Lance? I read you were very pleased with it on a few of the other forums.

Hi: cpaharley2008... Sure wish I'd had more time to show you our 5.0 in Townsend Tenn. I just changed out the painted wheels and tires for new chrome rims and Goodyears. The paint was flaking off the rims and I couldn't be bothered to repaint them. It was time for new tires anyway...so a good time to do the rims too. Time will tell if I made the right choice. Escape offers Aluminium rims for a good price but I got chrome rims for about the same $$$'s.
Just one more reason I like the single axle trailer as I only needed 2... I left the spare, unused, on the white rim. Alf

Re: Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
Chrome wheels rust, repeat after me... chrome wheels will rust! BUT, you must judicously keep them WAXED. If you keep the wheels WAXED you will have years of service. One year of sitting outside in the rain, snow, sleet... and the rims will rust at the bottom, inside (DO NOT ask me how I know... after spending $$$ on Crager SS rims) GRRRRRRRR.
But, they sure are purdy when rust free!

Re: Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
Actually the optional factory rims are aluminum, not chrome. But yes they still need to be maintained.

Re: Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
I sold my Lance and I'm in negotiations with Tammy/Reace for a 19' Escape. Logistics of getting out there vs delivery $$$$ and the fact I'm a caregiver. I want so many changes/personalizations/modifications that the price is now in the mid $30's, if I eliminate the shipping then it's more palatable. I have read most of the mod's done here and I'm trying to incorporate them into a "turn key" operation.

Re: Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
Any downside to the aluminum wheels - strength or longevity - vs. other options?

Re: Chrome wheels vs painted wheels
Only thing I know about aluminum rims is that you need to re-torque them a couple hundred miles after they have been mounted.
