Cleaners for removing silicone?
OK I did some searching but this seems to be quicker.
I am replacing then vent cover and electric box cover that got broken when the tire dethreaded.
What are safe products to use to remove the old silicone and won't hurt the gel coat?
BIG THANKS.

Fortunately the sealant on our Escapes is ProFlex not silicone. Heat it up with a blow drier or heat gun, take a plastic tool and cut/scrape as much as you can. I use acetone to remove the residual ProFlex. Reece told me this when I asked him. Reseal with ProFlex only. Easy if you follow these steps. Bill

If you don't have silicone anywhere on tour trailer--- that's a good thing. If you do have silicone, a very small amount of gasoline and a toothbrush will remove it. Apply the gasoline and let it soak for a few minutes. Repeat if necessary. The silicone will soften and can be removed with a small scraper (plastic) and any residual silicone film can be removed with acetone.

I should have used the word caulk but glad I didn't because now I know it's something called Proflex . Thanks for the info on how to remove it.
One more question. Should I get the clear or one of the whites its available in. I'm thinking clear but thought I would ask.
Thanks for the help.

Not the clear! IMHO. It looks great going on, transparent. But before long it turns kinda a brownish/green color and no matter how much scrubbing, bleaching you can never get it back to clear. White can be cleaned and I haven't found it to 'yellow' either. ETI used clear around the tops of the windows on Ten Forward. It's kinda ugly now. If they didn't want to use white, I wish they would have used black. YMMV

Hmmm. The 'cultured marble' (cast resin) shower enclosure in my home bath has a bead of silicone caulk at the joints, and some unsightly mildew has gotten behind it. Now that I have a better idea from this thread for removing the silly-cone, do y'all think the ProFlex sealant would fare better as a replacement caulk?

I use the clear Proflex, it indeed turns a kind of grey which is strange as the stuff ETI put on is just a light shade of yellow. I thought ETI used Proflex too.
