Cold Shower Blast
Soooo...let me quote an RV CLINIC article from the March 2017 issue of Trailer Life and get the forums thoughts.
"When you get the water temp regulated in the shower and you shut off the valve head to conserve water, why do you get a blast of cold water when you turn the flow back on?"
This never happened in our Casita and caught us by surprise.
But wait...there's more!
It has only happened to us when we are parked at sites with water hookups. If we use the water pump and our fresh water tank, there is no blast of cold water.
There was no conclusive answer in Trailer Life, so I figured I would check with the real experts.

Interesting Fred, as in the 17B we had the exact opposite problem. When we would turn off the shower head valve, and then turn it back on the first blast of water would be very hot.

When you turn off the water flow at the shower head, the water flow through the shower faucet is static. Any very slight pressure difference between the hot and cold water supplies will cause water to flow towards the lower pressure.
Maybe that is the reason most RV shower heads don't completely shut off the water flow but leave a trickle running to prevent this.

Hasn't happened in ours on either mode, and I use the onboard shower quite a bit. I guess I should say, hasn't happened yet.

I also get the blast of cold water in my 5.0 TA shower. I'd love to know how to solve the problem.

The original shower head that came with our 17B leaked a slow drip even with the head's valve shut off. Reace said that this was to reduce this problem. The head we replaced it with shut off completely and I noticed the hot water blast more with it than with the original. Maybe letting a bit more slow flow thru the shower head is the answer?

The fix is simple, install a back flow preventer on the hot and cold lines.

I saw the info from FitRV and it wasn't quite clear exactly what fitting to order. The RV Water Filter Store that I used to buy my external water filter housings and cartridges (I also built a plywood box for them) also has some interesting water gadgets and accessories. They have quick connect systems, but for this discussion they also carry shower positive shutoff valves in chrome or white. These should help.
