Ours does the same thing. I'm considering either low-tech painter tape (easy release adhesive) or high-tech magnet (coin shaped neodymium).

Magnet works well. Most hobby shops have the rare earth types. I also use them for locating the staples ETI uses in the cabinetry to find out where the framing is located.

My wife keeps muttering about how it's always popping open. Really must get around to looking at it someday, if I have time. Actually I have a couple of rare earth magnets kicking around, sounds like an easy fix.
Alf, there's two kinds of DIY'eers. The upper crust ones who shop at Lee Valley and the rest of us who shop at Busy Bee or Princess Auto.

I'm happy to say that ours never pops that I remember ... but I did rebuild the frame work to stiffen it up.

I have some magnets, when you figure out how to mount them post the solution.

I have some magnets also but I don't think I'll be using them.
One, glued to the door in the right spot so that it held onto the bolt head would definitely hold the door in place. But it would destroy the ability to open the cover by "push and release." So then you'd have to add a knob to open. Oh well, further investigation required.

My favorite method - a bit of VHB (double sided) tape works well.

converter door
On my 19 I just put a piece of metal I had that was about 1/2 long and 1/4 wide that had a small hole near the end, it was screwed into the wood just above the door and would loosely hang over the door. That would lock the door closed but easy to move to push to unlatch the door.

So how do you open it? There's no space even to get a finger nail in and if it can't push it in how do you get it pop open?

converter door
The small tab hangs loosely down over the door, move it out of the way with one finger while pressing on the door to open it normally. To close the door , just move the tab over while closing the door. Worked great for nearly three years. I now have to go through my junk to find another for the 21.

Thanks Jack, actually my question was directed at using VHB to keep the panel from popping open. Your post just jumped in between his post and mine.
I've used your solution on other items and it's probably the simplest. Gravity always works. And if it doesn't we've got bigger things to worry about.

Simple solutions to "problems" like this keep me addicted to this forum. Thanks for a great yet simple solution to the problem of the falling converter door.

Hopefully some one can obtain these and mail in an envelope to other members, I can find a screw, but for postage I'd get one. Something to bring to next years rally, maybe 10-15 of them to hand out, just thinking outside the box, wait, these belong on the box....converter that is...
