Converter question

Can anyone tell me what brand (and model) of electrical converter comes in the 19' Escape? I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I take delivery in June and was wondering if something like a "Charge Wizard" is compatible with the standard converter. Since I've decided to get the solar panel, I am also trying to figure-out if I need to worry about enhancing the converter's charging system. So much to learn ... Many thanks for all of you who have answered my elementary questions and helped me make what I am confident is a great choice!

The stock converter is a 3 way converter with bulk, float and quick charge cycles, perfectly safe to leave plugged in 24/7 which I did this winter to keep the battery warm. The solar is a good compliment and is more gentler on it's charging cycle, so between the 2 you do not need anything else. I just checked my water in the battery, all 6 cells are still full. This tells me the converter is not boiling out the acid as some can do.

Good to hear; thanks, Jim. Any idea of the brand/make? Also good to know that the solar will maintain the battery. That was the deciding factor for me as I will have to keep the trailer at a storage facility when not on the road. Wasn't too keen on taking the battery in/out every trip.

Jim is right. The converter and solar system supplied by Escape will keep your battery in good shape while in storage.

If you are intending to use a generator to charge your battery you might need to consider replacing the converter battery charger as Harold Kroeker did:

I agree that for normal use you should be okay with the WFCO converter and the GoPower solar regulator, which is what we have.
