Not knowing how your cover was torn, I have found that the material used for the top (roof) section of the cover is very prone to tearing when it is wet. So much so that I am reluctant to remove the cover unless it has fully dried.
Alternately, tears have been known to start on the sharp edges of the solar panel. I use modified "swim noodles" to cover the edges.
My last RV cover lasted 9 years. I methodically roll it up each spring and stored it in the garage off the ground on a rack. Last fall, when I unrolled the cover, I found that a squirrel had burrowed through the cover and mulched a sizable nest in the centre. Sometimes you cannot win for trying!
