Custom Made Board for Fridge?

I have a 2016 21 with the Dometic fridge. The main board has gone bad and my local RV shop says that those aren't sold in the U.S. and Dometic has to have it made outside the country (China I think is what they told me). It's been on order for almost 2 months and is fairly expensive. The more I think about it, this sounds like B.S. The fridge is only 3 years-ish old, I can't imagine a board isn't available, at least in Canada . Thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds suspicious to me. If I had to replace a board the first thing I would consider is if I could do something that did not involve Dometic. You don't mention your fridge model number but I would look into Dinosaur Electronics replacement boards. I have not used one but these are made in the USA and have a reputation of being better quality than the stock boards.

Cross reference to Dometic part # or by fridge model:

I was able to buy a control board (eyebrow board) through PDX RV website. They also list various main boards. The part I bought was a perfect fit. I did not contact dometic.

Looks like another good source. They even have some of the Dinosaur Electronics boards I mentioned above.

Thanks, checked these sites. Doesn't look like they stock it either. My model is an RMD 8555. Very odd that for a relatively new model, that parts aren't available.

Assuming it is an RMD85xx or RM85xx this is not surprising. This line of fridges has not fared well in North America, cooling ability in warm temperatures and reliability. And long back orders for parts for this fridge tend to be the norm, not the exception.

I would second the advice to look at Dinosaur for boards. They have earned a pretty good reputation replacing Dometic boards.

Note to new posters: When you are asking for help with an appliance PLEASE include the model number since Escape has changed the appliance models they use over the years.

Coincidentally, just heard from our RV repair folks. Dometic shipped the board today. So took a 2 month back order. Bummer to hear that this model has problems in warmer areas since I live in Texas.

Took well over a month to get an electric element for my RMD, over 2 years ago. Dometic wouldn't be in my top 10 of well run companies.

Do you have the Dometic part # for the board? This might help future owners of the RMD8555 that may be searching threads.

I'll see if I can get it from the repair shop and post it. Good idea.
