DC Outlet amp rating

Does anyone know what the dc outlet amp rating is?

I recently acquired a 12v air compressor that needs to run on a 15 amp dc outlet. I had already confirmed that both our 4Runner and our Subaru Forester DC outlets are rated for 15 amps. I'm hoping that the Escape's are too so I can plug the compressor into whichever vehicle/trailer needs air in its tires.

Re: DC Outlet amp rating

Open the panel to your electrical converter. Have a look at the fuses - they will be labeled. They won't necessarily answer your question, but thy might give you some useful information.

I installed a stereo this weekend, and took power off one of the lighting circuits. One was heavily loaded - most of the lights, the Maxx fan and the range hood. The other was lightly loaded so I chose it.

I had never bothered to look at the fuse panel before.

Re: DC Outlet amp rating

How funny, Ron. I just came inside from having looked at the fuses & was logging on to report what I found & what should I see but that very suggestion from you. I found two fuses that were identified as "12 Volt" and both were 15 Amps. Most likely one or both are linked to our 4 DC outlets. Plus, all fuses seemed to be either 15 amp or greater so I should be fine. However, I might fire off an email to Reace & Tammy to confirm... Don't want a melted adapter, outlet or, even worse, a potential fire hazard.
