Difficulty Sliding Table

I have the standard bench table installed in the 21. It's getting progressively more and more difficult to slide back and forth. I can't imagine I'm the only one who has experienced this problem.

With all the clever people on this forum, I suspect some have come up with a solution. Any ideas?

Thanks - Jeff

There is a thumb screw underneath that is supposed to keep it fixed while in transit, check that...

In our 19, I often "adjust" the friction level between the table edge and the wall ensolite by either pushing or pulling the table top. The pedestals do have wiggle room in their mounts. I try to keep the friction in the "sweet spot" where there's enough to keep the table from flopping back and forth, but not so much as to make the table hard to slide when desired.

I haven't had any problems (yet) but maybe some paraffin wax rubbed on the sliders under the table may help.

My slide is plastic, supposedly silicone is good on such.

I use a tea candle on my aluminum patio door at home.

Pull the table top, put it upside down on a flat surface, and adjust the screws that hold down the slides until things move as smoothly as you can get it. Then use a little teflon lubricant on the slides and reinstall. At the factory the assemblers probably just screw the things together as fast as possible; don't expect perfect alignment from them.

Hi: gbaglo... I use the bar of soap trick. My mother used to threaten me with it but that was to tighten up my mouth not loosen it. Alf

Alf,
I can taste that Ivory soap like it was just yesterday when I got good at swear words. Rita wishes my mom would have had a lot more soap. On topic now, a product I really like is Tri-Flow. It's a good lubricant and rust preventer. In better sporting goods stores near you. Not that I'm recommending this for the table but where I'd usually use WD40, I use CRC556. Or the CRC Silicone product.

Good suggestions. Thanks. I think I'll try tractors1 solution. That seems like a good place to start.

Hi: Iowa Dave... One of the first mods I did to our U dinette was to move the slides 1 1/2"s towards the front edge of the table. This allows a bit more space to fit me to the table. At the same time I reset the spacing a bit wider to make it slide better.
All those years of hearing about "Starving children" and eat up your dinner took a toll on me!!! Alf

Folks never had to implore me to eat it all. I never thought about moving the slides, I built a smaller table. And I still have to get in last.
