Dinette seat cushion material

Hello, I want to get new cushion material for our dinette seats. The current cushions have given their all. The covers are in good shape so I just need the cushion material. What suggestions do you have on where I can get the cushion material? Thank you

High density foam ($$$$$) at JoAnn Fabrics.

I went to a local upholstery repair/replacement business called Foam Rubber City (in Kent WA for those in my neck of the woods). The original foam was giving me rear end fatigue after a short while. Paid almost 500 smackers to get all of the u-shaped dinette foam (seat and side back pieces) replaced but it's been well worth it. My hips/back/rear end/whatever aren't sore after sitting there for a short while.

What they gave me was 4" x 48" Premium Foam - heck if I know how that will translate at another store. It's a dense foam. It works. That's all I know. :-)

They also made the foam a bit longer than the material and that took care of all the wrinkles I had on the cushions.

When O way looking for a higher density foam I found shipping just about equal to the cost o the foam. Found a more or less local upholstery supply business ( Osgood Textile ) that sold it cut to size saving me shipping. I also had my choice of 2 densities.

We have been very happy with foam from the foam factory, Chair Cushion, Boat Cushions, Replacement Cushions, Patio Cushion for ouir Scamp rebuild, our guest bedroom "wall bed" and for a foam topper on our home bed.

We use their highest density for the bench cushions we sit on.

We have been unhappy with the foam in the seat cushions. It doesn't provide enough support and becomes downright uncomfortable to sit on after a while. Found a place in Albuquerque called Rio Grande Foam. They did the 2 seat cushions for $167. Replaced the original foam with some higher density stuff. And provided same day service so we didn't have to drive back to Albuquerque.

Even after a short time sitting on the new cushions I can tell they will be superior to the original product. My back feels better already. Didn't bother doing the back cushions. We have never used the dinette as a bed and don't expect to. Overall, very happy with the result and recommend the mod.

I plan to do this, and don't think it will be a big issue with using the dinette as a bed, as you could choose the support level where you wish.

Good point Jim, ya want hard center or soft center?

I changed mine to the high density foam a local upholstery supply place sells. $40 for one side seat to find it was too hard, just like papa bears bench seat. Picked up 1 1" slice of the same high density and put it under the original foam, the combo worked very well for me this winter. Considering getting 2" of both the lower and the higher and gluing them up using the soft side on the upper surface.

The people to think the cushions are too hard need to get together with those who think they are too soft and smoke a peace pipe.
Apparently medical studies have shown that sitting is worse than smoking for life expectancy.
