Dirt skirt worth it?

I am finalizing my options list for my 5.0 - which is lots of fun. I was wondering if anyone had ordered the dirt skirt and had any opinions as to whether it was a useful option.

Thanks

Yes - I think it blocks dirt and stones from hitting the trailer.

Re: Dirt skirt worth it?

We have a dirt skirt on my Dodge Dakota 4X4 that I pull our Escape 19 with.
We will be going to Ethel Lake up by Stewart Crossing on the end of the month and traveling on some gravel roads.

Whether it was of any value coming up the Alaska Highway to home here in Whitehorse is debatable as the higway is chipsealed most of the way. When I get back I may have a more reasoned thought on this piece of equipment.

Re: Dirt skirt worth it?

Well, I have some minor chips on Hokie where gravel has been thrown up against it. I've been thinking of having that coating put on the front that everyone has been talking about...but the Dirt Skirt would do the same thing. I just wouldn't want to drive around with it all the time, and I wouldn't want to remove it everytime, especially if it was "dirty"

Re: Dirt skirt worth it?

The dirt skirt is mounted on the trailer hitch, not the tow vehicle.

When you park your trailer, then just remove the trailer hitch and dirt skirt in one piece.

Re: Dirt skirt worth it?

Hi: Yukon Escape...I don't think us 5.0 owners usually have a regular hitch under the bumper to mount a "Dirt Skirt" to. Reace has both types of hitches on his truck so he can tow all!!!
Hopefully we are going on an Easter "EGG" hunt Sunday and will bring home the 5.0 prize!!! Alf

Thanks Doug, I had no idea how they attached. I have a regular hitch because of a utility trailer....but I still have an aversion to dealing with muddy/dirty things so I think the LineX may be the better solution for me. Wonder if they have LineX is Hokie Maroon or Orange

I would imagine the brewers at "Escape" who mix these things up will make it any colour you want. Perhaps "Robbins Egg Blue" for the egg.
