Domestic Awning Wind Sensor - Disable

I have one of the new Dometic awnings with a wind sensor on my 2017 21. The forums are full of horror stories about the wind sensor on this awning. If I choose to do so, is it possible to disable the sensor while maintaining the other awning functions? If so, how? Thanks.

There is a box attached to the leading edge of the awning that has the sensor and batteries, remove the batteries should disable it. But be careful when using the awning without this safety feature....it does work.

While I have heard a lot of negatives about this awning, and there are a couple shortcomings I have found, I have never heard much negative about the sensor. I have appreciated it quite a few times.

All you have to do is to turn the power switch for the awning off, and turn it on whenever you want to extend or retract the awning.

If you bring the awning in when you anticipate wind, you have effectively disabled the wind sensor. Don't think I'd want to disable it if leaving the awning out.

I’m curious. Under what conditions would you want to disable the sensor, and what is the nature of the horror stories?

If you do that after a bit the awning will retract.
If you want to disable the feature just turn the awning off at the switch by the door.
But I'm not sure why you would want to do that. I would rather it go into retract if the wind is shaking the awning enough to set off the sensor.

Edit,at least that's what the manual says.
I have not tested it, but it says when the batteries are dead it will retract.
