Got an email from the fridge fix people, mine was shipped today. They want some pictures for their website, so I'll be posting the install.
On another note, I plugged mine in yesterday for a 2 day trip this weekend, just went out and checked, 42 in refer, 8 in the freezer, set on #3, 91 outside and 86 in the camper. I installed the batteries in 2 of the little blue fans and put one each in freezer and refer. Will report back. There is absolutely nothing in the refer right now, other than the fans.

Checked again today, holding 41 and 6 in refer and freezer. The low last night was 38 and 3 respectively. Will report back once filled with food and on propane.

For those with a 21 on order, I received an email from Reace today that ETI is going to install the "Texas Fan" on all new 6.7 fridge trailers. I'm assuming this is in addition to the new baffles. If I add my solar powered vent fan I should be able to pull a vacuum behind the fridge!

Thanks for the suggestion

Dave
With the new baffle installed, it will force all of the air through the cooling fins...past the heat sensor for the fans. When there is insufficient air flow causing heat build up, the fan(s) will definitely come on. The fan sensor switch is set to come on at 105 degrees and shut off at 90 degrees.

I will be making a video of the baffle install and putting it on youtube, then a link for all to see.

So the reference to the heat sensor and the fans is for the Texas fan mod or prior installed 4.3 fridge ? Our Escape 19 was built 7/13 with the 4.3 fridge was a evaporator installed during production ?

Hi Bob

All of the 4.3 fridges come standard with a fan installed on the exterior. They are just not effective without the baffle installed.

Been traveling across Canada for 6 weeks now... wrt to fridge... seems to be working very well.

Here is what we do... We travel about 4 -5 hours a day (350 km average). Stop for lunch, special sites, etc... Travel speed... 90 - 100 km/hr... on open road. Fridge & LP is OFF!!! In the freezer compartment we carry frozen jell packs. Fridge & freezer are filled to limit movement (mainly supplemented by cans)... Beer & Soda Water... really cool... oh, yes milk & coffee creamer (half & half) cool as well. Same with lunches, meats, veges, mayo, etc...

The freezer does ice up, but after travelling over the day, it's clear again. Takes about three days with the fridge on before the icing becomes somewhat heavy. When we were caught in this situation once, we simply removed the frozen jell packs and the icing nearly disappeared.

Just been through 30C temp & the fridge worked the same way...

Hope this helps...

Interesting topic.
I don't remember hearing this much talk on refrigerators in the last few years. Is this a hotter summer or are our refers getting too big?

IMHO;
>I think it's the warm summer season at hand.
>The excitement and talk of new models is fading.
>More US owners in warm regions.
>Likely more Escape owners visiting the warmer US regions.
>Seemingly more new models with poor performance.
>Some owners just now admitting that they too have an issue.

I'm wondering, too. People have been camping in Texas and other hot spots in RVs and huge MHs for decades. Maybe just measuring the refer temps is part of the problem.

I'd agree with these. Any cursory search online about the Dometic models in question reveals alot of complaints about their performance. 40 degrees is fine. 45? Not hardly.
