They are two versions of the same product and are very similar. We have the 4.3 and wish we got the 6.7 instead because we would like more freezer space.

I got the 6.7 model and the Texas fan option. I believe RV refrigerators perform better when there's air space around the food and an interior fan is used as well. However, freezers work better when packed with frozen food or even ice cubes!

Steve, I got home yesterday about noon. I didn't want to travel through Seattle late in the day and absolutely knew I didn't want to be on the road at the end of a long July 4th holiday.

First time backing up the 5er into it's rented parking spot. What a hoot! I didn't damage anything, fortunately. This is like starting all over again! I needed to take today off. I'm working four days this next week and will need the evenings to packup Ten Forward for the Oregon Gathering. Love my lists!

Once you go big you never look back…….Dave having had 7 different refers over past 7 years all with various sizes, the Dometic 8555 is the king. You no longer need to carry separate ice chests. It is really nice and you will appreciate the space. The issue with the cooling is not specific to their model, but to all models that operate off propane, it is hard to cool with heat in hot temperatures, period.

Attached is email from Mike
Hello everyone!

My name is Mike Bakker, and I am one of the owners of Smart RV Products. makers of the Fridge-Fix. After speaking with Jim Norman, we decided to put together a small production run of Fridge-Fix fans for the Dometic 8551/8555. We normally do not stock a device for this unit. We are going to size the unit so that it can be installed on the ceiling of the fridge (freezer pan removed) or, it can be installed on the bottom of the freezer pan. We will be providing extra velcro pads so you can have the option of installing in both places.

Please understand that our units are are designed with industry grade software, and cut on large CNC machines. What we will be doing on this production run is cutting down an existing fan body to length, and adapting it to fit in your fridge. Eventually we will offer a unit for these refrigerators, but the process takes a few months to get a new unit in the pipeline. You will not be able to tell from the front that the unit has been adapted, but from the back, you will be able to tell that the fan has been cut down and the hole spacing on the left hand side of the device is off. I am a serious perfectionist. This will probably not even matter to any of you, but it is importation to me!

When the units are completed, I will send you a link to the device on our storefront. It will indicate that this is for forum members only. When you get the email, just proceed to the link, and purchase via credit card, or paypal. The price for the units will be $70.00. For those members in Canada, if the shipping seems too high, do not worry, we only charge for ACTUAL SHIPPING. If we find a customer has been charged too much for shipping, we refund the difference. We do this about 4-5 times a week.

We are very excited about working with all of you to solve your refrigerator problems. I think you will be shocked at how well our devices work. Many end up turning their fridges down after installing our units.

We expect to have your units completed in the next few days. As soon as I get the word from our builders, I will send the link. Thank you once again, and if you have any questions whatsoever, do not hesitate to call or email.

Best regards,

Mike Bakker - Owner

The mod will make a big difference in either fridge. No more hauling out the hair dryer to de-ice frozen fins. Just get the size you think you need - it will include velcro mounts for under the freezer and in the top should you choose to remove the freezer compartment.
