Door hinge fail

One door hinge pin almost fell out within a week of picking up our new 19 on July 23. Luckily the US Customs officer saw it and I temporarily fixed it with a bolt. Part of the problem is the hinges look to be for a left hand door and the the hinges are on a right hand door with the pin lock on the top. When it fails, the pin falls out. Oops!
However ETI sent me a new hinge and it's ready to go.

That happened to ours, but the problem was there was no roll pin holding the hinge pin in place.
There is no left or right with those hinges.

Cheers
Doug

Same thing happened to me.Pin was installed upside down.Fortunately I always lock both locks. That way the dead bolt ,won't allow it to fall out.

Door hinge on 19 failure

Like I mentioned before there is no right, left or upside down. The hinge is pinned a pin cap is installed and a roll pin is pressed through the whole assembly holding it together. The problem with ours was there was no roll pin pressed in durning the hinge manufacturing process.

The second picture shows the place where the roll pin was missing at the top.

Cheers
Doug

Egads! Is the any possibility that the pin unswaged itself from the cap over time? It's hard to believe it was manufactured without the cap because that would be difficult to miss.

I just checked my 2009 and the assemblies are complete. Thanks for the images!

With what? And despite my applying a chrome metal polish/protectant (Blue Magic), my hinges are getting a little pitted. Should I use my Dremel and attachment to fix this? If so, which attachment?
