Wow that is a good price . I will order another pair . I just hope they are a little better quality then the ones on our trailers . I still will look into re chroming . The pitting sure makes the hinges look like crap . Not how you want your trailer looking especially when everyone wants to see your trailer and it turns heads . Pat

Am I missing something here? Polished 304 s/s for less than plated steel or chrome plated znic? I know which ones I'd go with if they matched up size wise.

Donna, I am not sure what manufacturer Lee Valley has but I do know all their other hardward is top quality and often at a price far less than other stores. The Lee Valleydescription says die cast aluminum where the McMaster Carr identify zinc as the metal

Ron, the PIN on the McMaster Carr is stainless steel, the leaves are die casy zink at $44.58 ea

Ian, is half-correct. Style 8 is stainless steel (NOT our hinge type), style 9... the black one (our hinge type) has the SS pin.

I'll keep looking, maybe I can find an entire SS hinge that's the Escape style.

I checked this weekend and the Lee Valley hinges are an exact fit.

I'm confused, I went to order a pair and they mention left or right hand side, but they appear identical in that you turn a pair over and it becomes the other side? With the fixed pin, they can be mounted in either direction?

Nope, they are left and right, the difference is the direction the pin is inserted, you want the rounded hingepin head on the top and the crimped area on the bottom. You would want Right hinges
