Door Window-shade 5.0TA

When we are parked at the right angle, which we have been for a month, the afternoon sun can be brutal coming through the window in the door. My mailing envelop and masking tape solution works, but I wondered if anyone has come up with a more sophisticated or permanent fix. We have a 2014 5.0TA, but I guess the door windows are similar in all models.

Thanks,

Davdi

The covering on the door window is a decal and easily removed and replaced. Perhaps something darker?

What covering? Ours appears to be a two-ply window, smooth clear inner and pebbled (bathroom glass) outer. Maybe former owner removed something.

Sorry, the new style doors have the blurred glass on the inside and it can be removed and replaced.

We borrowed an idea from Jackie and Pam Erikson and made a curtain with some oak dowels and finials as curtain rods. The rods are pulled towards each other and are held in place by some command hooks. The curtain is gathered in the middle with the same fabric. Works quite well, and we like the look.

I generally like the light coming in the door, but not at night and occasionally when it is intense as you are describing. I put stick on hooks above the door window and on the inside of the wardrobe door. I cut a rather thick piece of drawer liner to cover the window, with holes to go over the hooks. When needed, we hang it over the door’s window and when not wanted, hang it on the inside of the wardrobe door.

We went with Wally World car window solar screens as well, if you cut them a bit large, they just sit in the little door window....

My solution to two problems: light coming through window and where to put shoes and all those extra things that seem to accumulate on the kitchen counter.

Cut Reflectix to fit, put it in when needed. Same with the loft windows and the skylight.
