Dry Z Air

What do you use or do for condensation when camping?
We use Dry z air while at home.
This last trip with all the rain, it the condensation was pretty bad in the egg.
We use a few towels to wipe down stuff.
What about using Dry z air while camping / Pros and Cons?
Or other ideas?
What is the active ingredient in Dry z air, and or a cost effective place to buy it in bulk?
Looking for possible solutions to fight the condensation :-(

I use Dry Z Air in Toad during storage. Two of the containers gather about a cup of liquid each, every couple weeks. You'll note that I said "liquid" , not water. The stuff that collects is corrosive, so if you spill it, wipe it up right away. And, good luck with that, since it doesn't absorb in paper towel like water. It's sorta like trying to wipe up Jello with a paper towel. It always pays to read the instructions.

When it comes to camping, I've experienced condensation on the windows, from two people and a dog exhaling. You do know that it is recommended that you drink eight cups of water a day... Anyway, I see the condensation as an opportunity to clean the windows. I wipe them with paper towels, conveniently stowed over the sink with a stainless, spring-loaded paper towel holder.

I've not experienced a wet mattress, but I am getting older, a lot sooner than I expected.

I missed that! I vote Ron try it....

also I read on one of the other forums where someone suggested putting Rain-X on the inside of the windows to help the moisture travel to the window frames where it SHOULD move to the outside. I know no personal knowledge of this plan...

We boondock when camping.
So I am less incline to use electrical items.
In the heavy rain we have a fair amount of moisture build up.
It cleaned up with towels, the bed so far is ok.
I think that I will try Dry z air on the next trip?
We were just wondering about health concerns using Dry z air in an enclosed space.
(window open) with furnace thermostat set to 19C until bed time, then turned off till morning.
I think that I will put the Dry z air container in a old ice cream bucket.
And place the bucket at night in the bathroom on the floor or kitchen sink or under the bed?
I will have to experiment for the best location.
Any other thoughts?

Hi: Geo..."Any other thoughts"? Just one...Don't kick the bucket in the night!!! Dri-Z-Air is really slick and tough to clean up, as others have already mentioned. Alf

Hi Geo

I like the idea of dri z air for longer periods of storage etc. but to use it
while camping might not work as it is a SLOW process you will probably
find it only take a tbsp of moisture out of the air over night if that.

We have done a lot of cold damp camping and the best solution is to
leave a window and vent cracked a bit and the furnace on at a lower setting
(we like 14 - 15 C) at night, this helps greatly with condensation. Then a quick
trip around the trailer windows with an old towel in the morning and you should
be good.

The other thing is use your range hood fan when making morning coffee
or cooking this also helps prevent condensation.

We tend to use an old coleman white gas stove, outdoors for most cooking duties.
Keeps steam and any splashes out of the trailer.
