If an auto junk yard's handy that's a good reason for picking one of these up and keeping it in the tongue box. Works good for times when your lucks' all bad.

Many of us will have one of those already in the tow vehicle. I carry one of those tall wedges for tire changes with tandem axles, but I'd be pretty quick to pull out that scissors jack as well.

The tug's jack can be handy, but the top of that jack is often shaped specifically to work with the jacking point on the tug, and can be quite unsuitable under the trailer frame. The one in Myron's photo has a reasonable saddle; the one in my van very securely engages the vertical flange of the rocker area, but has no reasonable seating surface for general use. I suggest at least checking it out before depending on it.

I carry a hydraulic bottle jack and a few 2x6 pieces. One can jack anything with that; takes up less room, too.

I carry an aluminum racing jack. Three pumps and the head is at 18". SWEET! Takes up little space and is light.

I use the Andersons. Have not had trouble on grass, but on soft ground they sink in rather than lift. And on concrete or asphalt I need to put them on a rubber mat or one always squirts out in to the other tire; or once, more than 15 feet to the rear.

I think the shape of the Andersen causes this, whereas the gentle slope of the Ramble keeps travel to a minimum.
