Don't use fresh water from the container that was previously used to drain the grey water.

That's sure an interesting segue.
Maybe one could filter their water though some of that famous Lompoc diatomaceous earth.

I worked one year after high school at a Lompoc diatomaceous earth mine, Johns-Manville. I still hate touching chalk...

Perhaps the drained grey water can be used to flush the toilet.

Holy cow.... that is a brilliant idea!

When boondocking that would solve a few problems.... preserve fresh water, and get rid of grey water.

I wish there was a clever and sanitary way to select if the toilet was flushing from grey water... or fresh water... as we boondock more than camp with full hookups.

We order our 21' April 1st.... any way to have ETI somehow build something (elegant) in during the build?

a LLLOOOOOONNNGGG shot, i know. An odd request.

I always have to empty the black tank well before the grey needs to be emptied, so wouldn't help me.

If we 3 are in a situation where we need to shower in the Casita.... even when showering every other day, and really conserving water..... then the grey fills up well before the black.

However the bigger tanks on the 21' will help!!!

But seriously... has anyone ever had ETI build in some sort of way to flush the toilet with grey? (selectable clean or grey)

Seems to me that to do that you would need separate pumps, unless that doesn't bother you.

We have outhouses available when we boondock so filling the black tank hasn't become an issue.

Heck, you are camping. Twice a week is usually more than enough, with sponge baths in between. Though, if you are camping in the sweaty south, I guess that would be different. Still, sponges can be fun.

Once every four days, need it or not.

One of my first lessons in the service was to fill canteens upstream from the camp, they said it made the coffee taste better...

When we worked for the forest service we got our fresh water from springs out of a pipe driven into the bank. We kept track of how far up the mountain the free range cattle had drifted and had to change pipe locations as the summer passed. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger.

Spring you say? Hmmm. 80 right now, expected high of 85. I guess I do miss the 4 seasons - that is until ya'll post photos of deep cold, snow and ice.

We're finding that our gray tank fills within a couple of days, and that's with navy showers! Clearly we need to change some habits to make it last longer (ex use paper plates more) but we're also thinking of using the collapsible 5 gallon portable tank solution mentioned earlier. If we do that, can we dump it in the campground sink? If not, could we dump it in the campground flush toilet? Not sure if they will always work like the toilets at home where pouring water down them causes a flush. I hear that pit toilets may or may not allow dumping of gray water.

I sure wish someone would develop a mobile pump out service for campgrounds. Better yet if they could deliver fresh water and firewood too!

Many campgrounds have sinks for dishwashing. I would expect you could use that. I purchased a 6 gallon gray water tote and dump at the dump station when leaving for the day. 6 gallons is easy enough for me to handle. Also we use a basin in the sink. If you are close to a bathroom, you can dump that in the dishwasher sink. If it's getting close to the time you will be leaving & the black tank has room, dump the dish washing basin into the toilet. That allows you to really "flush out" the black tank.

I have heard of this sort of service (waste removal and fresh water delivery) at beachfront campgrounds in Baja, Mexico. I think you'd have trouble finding anyone to pump out other people's sewage here for minimum wage...

When camping at music festivals, there is often a honey wagon running around to drain tanks. They don't offer fresh water though, and fires are not permitted.
