That's why I asked the question about the list. We are not novices to trailers, just to Escapes. I would not think to check out the awning position, let alone document. We will be going to the rally after pick up, so we figured by then we would have gone through most areas of trailer. However, We are open to any
suggestions, experiences or ideas for things to be aware of. It's a long trek back to Texas and surprises aren't always fun. I have read almost everything posted and you all have done a good job helping us build ours. I'm still trying to get ready. Only about 6 weeks to Chilliwack! Thank you all for info you've shared.

If you are not novices to trailers and camping you will not have any problems with your Escape. They use the same furnace and water heaters as well as a/c and other items found in most trailers. Just listen during your orientation and once you get to Osoyoos there will be 150 other Escapes there to help you if you have further questions. Concentrating on making notes may prevent you from an important item during orientation.

Fred,
Can you get a measurement of the gap? Finger sized? Is the gap bigger because you zoomed in?
What does it look like at ground level without zoom? It appears there is a gap in all of ours? But is one gap bigger than the others?

I don't recall how far our awning was retracted when we took delivery of our 21' TT back in January. Does this look normal or should I request some help from ETI?

(Please excuse the bugs on the casing)

Fred, unfortunately, I can't take a look at ours, as we had to take it back to ETI to take a look at a minor issue, but I'd say the bugs are pretty normal to me!!

I copied the orientation comments from this thread to Rossue's Orientation thread since there was much good info here, and it's a likely place for those of us looking for orientation info to go, rather than a discussion about awnings. Hope I didn't step out of line doing this!

Awning safety travel strap

"I've bought quite a bit of handy stuff from Little House Customs over the years. This is a link to the store and about 3/4 down is the awing strap I used on a couple of previous F G campers. The 'fridge hinge supports, Hepvo valve, belly band, and Multi Clamp (for the 7 pin) are also good.

unfortunately these straps will not work with the Dometic power awning, Casita uses Fiamma awning that does use a continuous attachment, ergo the use of pool noodles to fill in that void.

I really don't think it's a issue. Ours looked the same in our build photos and traveled 2800 miles without a problem. The instructions say nothing about a close limit and just talk about a open limit.

If you look at the awning from the top it is closed all the way and touching in the center. The outer rail of the awning has a slight bow to it so it touches in the middle but not on the ends. Something in the design of the awning and looks like it has nothing to do with the electric open/close.

Recently all my pictures are rotated. Can someone please rotate them. Thanks

I messed with the awning a little today. I adjusted the out limit and was a able to get the awning fabric more taut after a couple tries. Nothing seems to change the gap on the ends when closed but it appears to be closed all the way because the center is touching and with the slight bow in the outer rail it looks like that's just the way it will be.
